Welcome, Sabine Pass students and parents! My name is Amy Lindsey, and this is my tenth year at Sabine Pass School.

I grew up in the Little Cypress community in a family of teachers, always knowing that I would one day become an educator myself. In high school, my favorite subjects were English and French. I was active in Student Council, Key Club, and National Honor Society. I loved UIL Academics and competed at the Regional level in Ready Writing and at the State level in Spelling & Vocabulary. During my senior year in high school, I was elected president of my school's chapter of Future Teachers of America.

After graduating from Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School, I went on to attend Austin College in Sherman, Texas. (GO 'ROOS!!!) During my college years, I volunteered at a local elementary school and was employed by the Austin Teacher Program. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching, with a specialization in Elementary Education.

After teaching elementary school in Sabine Pass for six years, I accepted the position of Librarian and have been loving my job ever since! In the Fall of 2008, I completed a second Master's in Library Science from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading (obviously), listening to music, surfing the Internet, and hanging out with my family and friends. Last summer I traveled to Toronto, Canada and also attended the American Library Association Conference in Chicago, Illinois. While there I met Jennifer and Matthew Holm, the sister-brother team who write and illustrate the "Babymouse" series. There they are on the left!




Below is a picture of my beagle, Molly. As you can see, she also likes to read! :)

Besides being Librarian, I also serve as a Reading Specialist and a Middle School Sponsor. I am the facilitator for the College Access Program (formerly known as Dual Credit) through Lamar University.

Finally, I am a UIL coach for grades 3-12. I sponsor Elementary and Junior High Spelling, as well as High School Spelling & Vocabulary and Literary Criticism. I have been involved with UIL Academics in some capacity for 16 years and counting--I love it!
