Welcome to the Sabine Pass School Counselor’s Corner! My name is Randa Hurtado, and this is my third year at Sabine Pass School. I have been a school counselor for six years and taught middle school reading for three years prior to becoming a counselor. I hold a Masters of Education in Counseling and Development from Lamar University and a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am very excited to be at Sabine Pass and hope to have a successful school year. Please let me know of how I can be of assistance to you.

Counsel individuals and small groups to help meet identified needs

Teach the guidance curriculum

Assist students to make good decisions about academic programs, educational choices, personal goals, and career opportunities

Consult with parents regarding any concerns about their children

Consult with teachers and administrators regarding students' needs

Present workshops for parents and teachers

Interpret test results to students, teachers and parents

Coordinate with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students

Support school programs, school climate, and academic achievement
